The two big stars have met once again at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and they were not here to mess around with fashion.

For the past few years, it has become a norm that we get excited for Ly Nha Ky’s annual appearance at Cannes. More than just an actress, the beauty carries many other missions including being a businesswoman, a sponsor, and most recently a film producer and she always dresses to impress. On the other side, there is also anther lady that we expect to see, the queen of Chinese showbiz Fan Bingbing, and comparison between the two, fashion wise, is always enchanting.

Ly Nha Ky is truly no less than the gorgeous Fan Bingbing in both her body and complexion. Fan Bingbing has long been a name on the headlines with her many lavish, extravagant and even in some occasions borderline stunningly shocking dresses from the world’s most prestigious fashion designers. In contrast, Ly Nha Ky presents a soft, feminine, and classy image wearing many pieces from local Vietnamese designers.

Prior to Cannes this year, Ly Nha Ky was suddenly rumored to be banned from leaving the border. With no explanation needed, her appearance at Cannes with more grace and class than ever before has cleared the mist successfully. She has won her much deserved spotlight on Vietnamese media from just the opening ceremony at Cannes. 

To leave her best impression this year at the 2018 Cannes Festival, Ly Nha Ky made a bold choice of wearing a deep red, giant classic gown, off shoulders, with one sided bow details, resembling Cinderella’s entre to the fanciest party of the royals.

With her silky skin, Ly Nha Ky kept her make up at minimal as usual. A ruby red pair of lips was all she needed to glow all sexy.  Metallic lips are harder to pull off, especially when you are wearing such a voluminous dress, but she went straight in with the glitter magic and she stole the show.

Bold lips – soft eyes, the makeup motto the holds truth in every situation. And here she was wearing minimal wings liner elongating her eyes, creating that sharp but soft look. A side close-up to her face would only reveal her perfect warm tone bronzing that allows her complexion to shine in every situation.

Fan Bingbing – a soft makeup look that captured the spotlight.

For the opening ceremony of Cannes 2018, Fan Bingbing surprised us all with a much more preserved, toned-down look comparing to her many previous daring appearances. But as expected, anything she put on was no less than a fortune.

The Chinese beauty chose a minty, flowy  gown from Ali Karoui, but her makeup look is truly the star here. It was too easy to go wrong with that mint color but fortunately, behind Fan Bingbing was an excellent team, creating a perfect look for her from head to toe, from the outfit to hair and makeup.

With a muted, perfectly blended earth tone orange eyes and soft dewy warm lips, she appears as a natural beauty that defined harshness of time. Although, for many fans, this could be too ordinary for a big name like Fan Bingbing, but we honestly could not love this look anymore. In the playful dress, she proved herself to be naturally beauty and will remain that for many years to come.

The result is inconclusive here, whether Ly Nha Ky or Fan Bingbing will be the queen of Cannes red carpet. Because our perception about beauty is always as various as it can be but the one true fact that can’t be denied is: “Stunning are they on the red carpet of Cannes 2018.”
