In the recent years, Venice Film Festival is considered to be a starting point for Oscar winners titles, such as: Gravity, Birdman, Spotlight, La La Land and most recently, Shape of Water. So, the upcoming 2018 Cannes Lions took place in August and will last until Sept 29th this year has a lot of critics excited for.

Next to Oscars best potentials runners: First Man, ROMA, Suspiria, A Star is Born…, the appearance of “Non Fiction” on the competitive list made many audience, especially movie critics, in Vietnam surprised yet hopeful. This is because it is invested co-produced by a very Vietnamese factor: Ly Nha Ky.
Before the upcoming Venice Film Festival 2018, Sports and Culture Newspaper has had an short interview with actress-businesswoman Ly Nha Ky.
* Could you share the investment amount into “Non Fiction”?
- I have to ask to withstand this information, since it is a principle of movie investors worldwide.
* During production until the moment the movie is up in the competition list, did you and the film crew meet any difficulties.
- I was lucky to had to opportunity to with an international film crew including director, actors, main investors, they were all famous characters in the world. They have won many competitions from Venice, Cannes to Oscar. So we absolutely did not meet any difficulty. I was very honored to be co-investors, and working with such a large and famous film crew.
* Did you accompany the film crew for the entire production period? What left you with the most impression?
- At the position of an investor and co-producer, I had always been with them during the production period of “Non Fiction”. And the thing that had left the most impressions in me is the dedication of everyone in the film crew, from the producers, director, actors to the support staff. They have worked tiredlessly.
* Venice Film Festion is considered to be the starting point for Oscar winners in recent years. Do you hope for the same with “Non Fiction”.
- Of course, it’s the one thing that not just me but everyone involved in “Non Fiction” hopes for. I wish we will be lucky this year. Currently, we are also preparing for the movie’s next steps.

“Non Fiction”, French title: Double Vies, is a story around the mid-life crisis of 2 middle-aged man: editor Alain (Guillaume Canet) and writer Léonard (Vincent Macaigne). They are under great pressure from the more ever challenging world of publishing, while feeling heat from the demands of their wives (Juliette Binoche, Nora Hamzawi). The movie starred the great French actress, Juliette Binoche. She has risen to the fame with titles such as: Three Colors: Blue (1993), Chocolat (2000) and Clouds of Sils Maria (2014). There were also Guillaume Canet – the infamous actor from France and Vincent Macaigne, famous actor and writer. |
