Ly Nha Ky: “Sometimes I find myself irrational”

Ly Nha Ky stepped in, escorted by an assistant. She greeted me with the familiar smile and quickly explained the reason of being late is just landing from France about 2 hours ago.

The Beauty: Hello Ly Nha Ky, I’m very happy for having you for the interview with The Beauty magazine. I said so because I know that you’re very busy and usually on the move.

Ly Nha Ky (LNK): Thank you for caring about my personal work. Indeed, I am less and less having time for myself. Sometimes I find something quite… irrational about myself, because I’m a woman, like other people said I don’t have to work hard that much, but then I comfort myself maybe it’s … my fate. My fate must be hard-working, must be building the future like that. I also think that hmm it’s fine, just keep trying because opportunity is not offered many times, I’ve got to be financially stable first so I can have the best conditions to support others more. It seems that I have too many things to do in this life (laughed).

The Beauty: Firstly, congratulations to you for having such impressive diamond exhibition in last June. There is another impression to many people that your appearance at Cannes Film Festival 2015 in the role of being the only character from Vietnam.

LNK: To me, every time my job achieved good result it turns into the new energy for me to strike for better things. I always think that in any field, not only at Cannes event, Vietnamese people have the sufficient talent and power to stand beside other countries, and to receive equal honor.

The Beauty: Always appear ethereally in billion-worthy outfits at grand events, hence behind the red carpet and hundreds of camera flashes, do you also choose this style to define your personal brand name?

LNK: Those who care about fashion and love fashion know that in high-fashion world, price is very important, because it shows the rank and name of the outfit. Certainly, the outfit does not create the personal brand name, but it will show the subtlety and bring out the attitude which plays a role in “characterizing” your brand name. That is the reason why today fashion is more and more developing and especially high-fashion is given more concern. Red-carpet and normal life always have the difference, of course they cannot be the same. In normal life, I am a business woman managing from meetings to take care of exchanges with partners, therefore I don’t have time to dress up sophisticatedly, so I choose simple and dynamic style. Although they’re not billion or million worthy, but I always choose to wear high-class fashion which offers the classic looks suitable to my style and my work, looking moderately elegant and charming enough.

The Beauty: Choosing branded clothes to show off high level, is it a smart way?

LNK: I don’t know whether that’s considered smart or not, because theory and reality still assume “Clothes does not make a man”, clothing cannot create personal brands, because the brand is created from the inner strength of each individual. However I think because the world already see the value of high-fashion so people still approach it like a “follower” to adorn their personal brand names. Fortunately I’m doing business of fashion with the most beloved world-top brand names, therefore it’s easier for me to choose clothes which are suitable to my personal characters and my job, also up-to-grade of world trend.

Thanks to that benefit, hence I have extremely gigantic passion in building the high-fashion world with world-class brand names at my store 30 Dong Khoi Street. Although I’m super busy with other jobs and other projects, but I still spend time indulging my passion every single day so Vietnamese women can approach the latest trend right in Vietnam that does not cost them half-way travel the world.

The Beauty: It’s been more than a year since Ly Nha Ky wrote a letter announcing your withdrawal from showbiz. Do you miss acting again?

LNK: Yes of course. I am passionate and a lover of silver screen, saying goodbye is not that easy. However, life needs constant development and you need to follow what you’ve planned, therefore you’ve got to accept it. I always have plans for my life, and that is one of the secrets building up my success.

The Beauty: Success from movie projects showed that Ly Nha Ky has quite good fate with silver screen. You decided to temporarily withdraw from showbiz to spend time for business and social philanthropic activities. Is this the way you chose to escape from the role of being a sole movie actress and to approach the image of a successful business woman?

LNK: Doing business and becoming a business man is my orientation when I was young, but doing art and becoming an actress is a job that I’m passionate for. I left the art job aside temporarily because at each timing point of life, I always know which purpose I need to achieve first, which is saved for later to prioritize the more important one. Who knows that in the future, when there is a suitable character role and a script that makes me sleepless at night, I will then arrange my time to join.

The Beauty: Continuously attach to movie screen but from a different role, for example a producer. Have you ever thought of that?

LNK: Well perhaps, as a business man who finds any field that creates profits, will keep an eye on and find opportunities, especially a movie lover like me.

The Beauty: People no longer mention Ly Nha Ky as an actress but now a successful business woman and owning respectable relationships with renowned figures in the world. Are you happy?

LNK: Actually I’m a perfectionist and very detail-oriented, always highly demanding from myself, who are my staff would understand that clearly. I’m careful to micro details. That’s why I barely have time to relax, I always want to work and push myself to work. It’s because that every time striking for success in any job, I feel very happy. Keep working restlessly has turned my life into a flow and I flow with it.

The Beauty: I believe that many people want to know why you’re rich like that?

LNK: I remember a famous saying that: “Success only comes when you work with your heart and always think about the good things”. I think that anyone can be rich, can have that opportunity, the importance is how you know to seize that opportunity and not giving up in any difficult circumstances.

The Beauty: What do think about doing charity is for polishing self name? As I see people who are getting famous, the more they become the more they do charity.

LNK: In my opinion, although polishing name or not, the act of helping people watching from every angle is a good one. Life absolutely needs things like that, then why we have to particularly examine and calculate the polishing or not?

The Beauty: Besides of rumors about your affection for co-actors, I recognize that you never share a word about your man. You seem to be very discreet about affection?

LNK: I still share about it, but regarding love and work I share by acts.

The Beauty: Ly Nha Ky is super successful and powerful so you don’t have a man beside or is it work that you prioritize?

LNK: Women or men, no matter how successful or strong still need support, the one who loves deeply and staying at your side, like a mental rest and a source of energy to do better work and to get more success.

The Beauty: Your marriage will start with a luxurious and gorgeous wedding, or a warm celebration after having kids?

LNK: Whatever might happen in that wedding, as long as we feel happy is enough.

The Beauty: Can you share your projects in upcoming time to readers of The Beauty?

LNK: I just launched law consulting company named Lynk Law. This I have planned for a long time and carefully prepared for its birth. This September will have a large-scale exhibition with hundreds of fine jewelry creations from world-top brand names, and by November will be Lynk Fashion Show Season 2 officially premiere. All Lynk staffs are now dedicated for the preparation of Lynk Fashion this season.

The Beauty: I still really wish to hear your secrets of achieving success.

LNK: My secrets are devoting my love for what I do and striking for the best to accomplish the targets for the best results.
