A successful businesswoman, a fashion icon, an artist, a diplomat, and a dedicated social worker – the many titles rightfully earned by Ly Nha Ky after her relentless 10 years of hard work.
10 years ago, Ly Nha Ky first appeared in a fundraising event for women around the world who were suffering from domestic violence and hardships.
And from there, she quickly rose to be the official spokesperson in Viet Nam representing Operation Smile (the non-government medical service organization taking care of children with facial deformities). Using her hard earn money, she has sponsored constructions of bridges, houses and shelters, scholarships for students in needs, and optical operations for underprivileged children.
The year 2010 witnessed a worthy recognition of her effort, as she was honored with the golden prize for “Dedication to the Community”. And in 2011, as the first time ever Tourism Ambassador of Viet Nam, Ly Nha Ky diligently and successfully led the campaign to achieve international acknowledgement of Vinh Ha Long as of the Seven New Wonders of the World.
And ever since 2017, the former Tourism Ambassador of Viet Nam have made many appearances in major events around the world as an official individual sponsor for Cinéfondation (a dedicated funds to young movie makers) from Cannes Film Festival (the French prestigious film festival considered the largest in the world).
"I have always wanted to say thank you to my dear home country, for a chance to turn all of my dreams into reality. I want to say thanks to each and every great person in my life, and thanks to this society in which there is always good things to look forward to. I have found trust, love in people, and hope for the future."
And here we are, the time of the year we celebrate woman everywhere, it is the time for Ly Nha Ky to look back at magnificent journey. These are her thoughts on the true happiness of a modern independent woman:
- Happiness is for everyone to achieve but in different ways and many different forms. For me, apart from my beauty, which is completely a gift from my parents, a gift that requires much attention and careful attending, happiness comes from truly being independent and confident with what I have in life. And from there, it is up to us to work hard, be creative, and be a keen worker.
Every morning is excitements to me, that I get to wake up, start a new day with so many things to do for the sake of myself, my employees, and many others. That is my happiness, the happiness that I can actively build and protect.
* You did mention your beauty, so do you think beauty is a weapon in a woman’s asset?
- I believe in equality, that every one of us was born equal regardless of our sex, race, our height, and of course the financial status. We are here with our right to be educated, to learn, our right to dream and make the dreams come true.
- I think I am lucky, to be born and raised in a peaceful united country. It is also my blessing to be able to go to many countries, learn and experience the different cultures all over the world.
- I have been through so much things, some were devastating, some were incredibly joyful but each left me a more matured, wiser person every time. And this to me is a blessing to. I would never trade my life for any asset.
- I think the young women of today have more and more chances in their career as well as in life.
- But the important thing is to find your strength and utilize it to the max with a clear goal in your mind. That is how you find your happiness.
